Delete/Recreate Paging Groups from SA-Announce and CUCM

Delete and Recreate Paging Groups

There are occasions when you need to delete and then recreate groups because they were set up incorrectly (wrong DN, name, group type, etc.) There are also occasions when you’ll want to delete groups that are no longer used.

To make it easier to recreate the group, we recommend taking screen shots of the group’s configuration before deleting.

Delete Dialers in CUCM

  1. Select Device > Phone.
  2. Search for phones where Device Name (DN) contains ‘EEEE’. Click + to add new search line for Directory Number.
  3. Remove the necessary EEEE device phones.
  1. Right-click on the device and select Open in new Tab.
  2. Click Delete.
  3. Close the tab.
  4. Repeat a-c for each device to be removed.

Important: EEEE device names MUST be in order – i.e. the last two digits of the devices name must be 00, 01, 02, 03, etc. So, if you have 9 devices and you delete the device ending in 08, devices ending in 00 through 07 will continue to work but the device ending in 09 will NOT work because 08 is missing, which causes a break in the numbering scheme. To fix this, delete 09 and recreate it. They system will assign the next available number.

Note: If you deleted a group that’s no longer used, skip the next step. You’re done.
