Cannot Open Database Error
If the SA-Announce application does not have access to its database, login to SA-Announce fails and the following error is presented.
Error: Cannot open database “SA-Announce 2.0” requested by the login. The login failed.
Login failed for user ‘DOMAIN\USER’.
This means database access is not authorized.
There are three basic steps to resolve this issue:
- Verify Local Admin Rights on the SA-Announce server.
- Update permissions using the KBA01020_Utility.exe.
- Run the SA-Announce Configuration Utility.
Verify Local Admin Rights on SA-Announce Server

- Expand Configuration > Local Users and Groups. Click Groups folder.

- Once permissions are granted, log out and back in to verify permissions.
