Grandstream HT503

Grandstream HT503 is an analog telephone adapter (ATA), supported by Mitel Connect, that enables an analog device to interact with a VoIP phone system.

The following instructions are for configuring your Grandstream HT503 to communicate with SA-Announce.

Before You Begin

Make sure your Grandstream HT503 has been set up and an analog phone plugged into it. Your HT503 should be using DHCP option 72 for it's IP address. Follow instructions in your HT503 vendor documentation.

You'll need the SA-Announce server IP address.

Configure HT503

  1. Enable Web Access – Dial ***, 12, 9 to enable web access on the WAN NIC.
  2. Obtain the HT503 IP Address – Dial ***, 02 to obtain the IP address of the WAN NIC.

Configure HT503 and SA-Announce Communication

  1. Log in to the HT503 web interface – http://xx.xx.xx.xx where xx.xx.xx.xx is the HT503 IP address. Default password is “admin”.
  2. Click the FXS Port link.
  3. Enter the SA-Announce server IP address as the Primary SIP Server.
  4. Set SIP Registration to NO.
  5. (Optional) Set Gain: TX to +6dB (max) ONLY.
  6. Note: Changing RX did not affect incoming audio stream on SA-Announce.

  7. Set Number of Rings to 1.
  8. Note: This setting determines how quickly the HT503 answers an incoming call.

  9. Click Update, and then click Reboot.
  10. Test the setup – Use the analog phone still in the Phone/FXS port to call an SA-Announce Paging Group DN.

Connect Analog Phone Port

These are general steps. For specific instructions, consult your Mitel Connect documentation.

  1. Log in to Mitel Connect and configure a Standard Analog/POTS user.
  2. Assign the analog user to a POTS port using a standard Mitel analog port.
  3. Plug an analog phone to the port and call the port from a Mitel phone to confirm proper connectivity.
  4. Remove the analog phone and connect an analog cord from the Mitel POTS port to the HT503 FXO/Line Port.

SA-Announce Workflow

  1. Call the POTS line from any SA-Announce supported Mitel phone.
  2. After 1 ring, you'll hear a second dial tone.
  3. Dial the SA-Announce Paging Group.
  4. SA-Announce answers the call and activates the requested group.

Note: Holler and Respond paging groups may not work with this configuration.
