IP Speaker Registration Options

Use DHCP Option 72

Syn-Apps recommends leveraging DHCP for the Atlas, A.N.D., and Cyberdata IP speakers.

DHCP needs option 72, the “World Wide Web” option, enabled and pointed to the IP address of the SA-Announce server. This allows auto-registration and maintenance of the speaker to the Syn-Apps Software.

Important: A.N.D. and Atlas speakers ONLY register with SA-Announce when using DHCP option 72.

If DHCP does not work with Cyberdata speakers, they can be registered using a static IP address and auto-registration options. Follow the following steps.

Cyberdata IP Speaker Alternate Registration

The basic steps are:

  1. Obtain the speaker IP address.
  2. Add it as a secondary address to NIC.
  3. Optionally, upgrade the speaker firmware.
  4. Configure Cyberdata speaker to set a static IP address and auto-registration for the speaker.

Obtain Speaker IP Address

Use one of following methods to obtain the address of the speaker:

  • RTFM – Press the RTFM button until it beeps (about 5 seconds).  The IP address is presented.
  • DHCP Lookup – If plugged into a DHCP capable LAN port, write down the MAC address located on the back of the speaker and look up the address within the DHCP table.

Add Secondary Address to NIC

Note: Use this section if the IP address of the speaker is outside the range of your computer.

  5. Navigate to the properties of the computer’s NIC.  Double-click on TCP/IP.
  6. Enter the primary NIC information from step 4.  Click Advanced.
