Change SA-Announce Account or Password

In SA-Announce 8.3.0 and newer, the SA-Announce services run under the Local System Account. SQL connection is made using the account that runs SA-Announce Configuration.

In SA-Announce 8.2.26 and older, the login account to SA-Announce is also used to run the SA-Announce services and establish the SQL database connection.

There are two or three basic steps, performed on the SA-Announce server, to change the SA-Announce account or password:

  • Log into the SA-Announce server and verify your account has local admin privileges.
  • Update Windows Service Credentials (8.2.26 and older only).
  • Run the SA-Announce Configuration Utility.

Verify Local Admin Privileges

  1. Log in to SA-Announce server.
  2. Right-click on My Computer and select Manage.
  3. Expand Configuration > Local Users and Groups.  Click the Groups folder.
  4. Double-click Administrators group.
  5. Verify service account is listed.
If the account is not listed, click Add and browse to the AD or local account.
Log out of and back into the server to obtain new permissions.

Update Windows Service

Important: This step only applies to SA-Announce 8.2.26 and older. If you are running a newer version of SA-Announce, skip this section and proceed to Run Configuration.

  1. Navigate to Start > Run > Services.msc.
  2. Double-click the SA-Announce Broadcaster Service
  3. Click the Log On tab.
  4. Update the credentials.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 for the SA-Announce Scheduler Service.

Run Configuration

  1. Run Start > Programs > Syn-Apps > SA-Announce > SA-Announce Configuration.
  2. In the Application Admin User screen, change the Admin User Name and Admin Password.
  3. Take defaults on all other screens.

Note: If you are running SA-Announce 8.3.0 or above and receive an error about database access, please refer to the Cannot Open Database Error article. Once you resolve this issue you should be able to run configuration.
